I’ve decided to try a new format for the workshop this August. It’ll be a more informal,
smaller class, including a weekend, to accommodate those who want to take just a few
days. You can choose which days you’d like to attend within the dates I’ve selected
below. Besides instructing, I’ll be painting alongside everyone when I am not needed,
giving the added benefit of seeing some techniques I use in my own work. I look forward
to seeing you there!
The dates I have chosen are:
August 2nd – 13th

Guess uses his gifts and knowledge to draw the muse out of every participant. He begins
with lessons on the blending of the color wheel and the qualities imbued in each hue,
shade, tint and tone, including how colors affect each other. He then leads the workshop
participants into understanding how to achieve effective light and shadow on canvas,
and how to achieve good composition in subject matter. From there, Guess helps each
individual to develop his or her own style and project their personality into their work.
Doors open at 9:00 a.m. and Guess will be there until about 4:00 p.m. Guess will guide
participants through all aspects of introductory painting including setting up a color
wheel and palette, composing an image for depth and balance, capturing the desired
ambience and so much more.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Fredrick Guess' generosity
is exemplified in his donations to charities and non-profits.
On average, his donated paintings generate over $25,000 annually
for organizations ranging from PBS and the American Cancer
Society to Save Our Cemeteries and Lazarus House, to name
a few. In 2006, Guess called together several friends to do
a fundraiser for the Musicians' Village being built by Habitat
for Humanity. That event alone raised around $27,000. |
